Factories

We work exclusively with small family based factories, whom we’ve built a close, trusting and lasting relationship with.

All Baserange underwear, t-shirts, and sweats are produced in small towns around Porto in Portugal. This area is very near Toulouse, where our company’s head office is based. This enables us to make regular visits and reduce the time, cost and carbon foot print of transporting the garments.

Our woven garments are all produced in a small town called Odemis near Izmir. Odemis sits in one of the richest fertile valleys of Turkey. Here, our supplier produces garments made from only natural fabrics such as silk, linen and wool, with an old knowledge of natural fabrics and processes.

Dyes

Since the very beginning dyeing has been a central aspect in our ambition to create a sustainability literacy for us to understand the consequences on the environment and the people involved in the production of our collections.

It’s through open-ended conversations and witnessing factories apply certifications that we learn how to improve and to make sure that the result are paired with our goals.

Certifications and legislation ensure formal frameworks to curb detrimental effects from the dyeing process but we also enjoy working with people who develop methods based on their own unique circumstances, such as Meat Ipek’s usage of rainwater.

In terms of certificates that apply to our collections we are covered by REACH or Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals, the vaste set of regulations that guides all chemical usage within the European Union. Thanks to REACH around 30 compounds are now forbidden to be used in textiles.

Our French and Portuguese suppliers are also certified and labeled STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. This is one of the world’s best-known certifications for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety. Oeko-tex certified textiles do not contain chemical substances such as heavy metals, phenol and phthalates, which are harmful to human health; as well as damaging to the environment when the by-products of the process are released into rivers or dumps. This independent testing and certification system may be applied to textile materials, ready-made textile articles and final garments.
