Lace
About our Lace
Our lace fabrics feature organic cotton in a blend, which has become harder to come by, as most lace these days is only in synthetic fibers. We have introduced new designs for our lace underwear, including the Crescent and Musial groups. For our tees and tanks, we have extended the Crescent group and also introduced the Nehru and Rota styles. Sometimes we use our lace as detailing and trims on dresses and skirts. The composition of our lace fabric includes polyamide and elastane for the elasticity necessary for underwear. Polyamide is used to give otherwise delicate and fragile lace some durability and strength. It also keeps the fabric fine and lightweight and allows for the characteristic sheerness in lace. It is also important for holding the pattern of the lace in place, which cotton alone would not be able to do. The process of knitting lace fabric requires extremely fine gauge yarns, and fine cotton yarns are likely to break on these machines.
Using organic cotton is important for us as it supports good soil health and ecosystems. Organic farms also generally support more plant and animal species, supporting the biodiversity of farms. It relies on natural cycles and local conditions. We want to ensure that no harmful chemicals are used in the production process, water consumption is controlled, water is not contaminated, and workers' rights are also preserved. Organic cotton is great for everyday wear and layering because of its durability, breathability, and softness. The material is also hypoallergenic.
Washing synthetic fibres releases microplastics into the water system, especially during the first washes, but washing the synthetic blend fabrics in a laundry bag that captures the microfibres allows you to dispose of the microfibres properly. You can also use a laundry ball or a washing machine filter.
