Knits
About our Knits
You can find our knits in different knit techniques, including rib knit, melange, cable knit, purl, and knit stitch. All of our knitwear is fully fashioned, which means clothing that is knitted to shape so it can be connected at seams without cutting the fabric. Fully fashioning knitwear is more time-consuming than cut and sew. We do this because the process itself doesn’t create waste, as nothing needs to be cut off, and these garments are also more comfortable because there are no seams. The knits are sewn together using a chain stitch that connects the pieces into one. This technique ensures durability and comfort, as the seams are flatter. All of our knitwear is made at a family-run knit factory in the South of France near the Pyrenees. They work with craft methods rooted in the region and buy materials directly from breeders in the local region they have a close relationship with. Recycled wool comes from a spinning mill 10 kilometers away. The production is small scale, as the factory has about 40 workers.
Our knitwear comes in many wool and cotton variations and in different gauges. Our thickest knits are our recycled wool and Arles merino wool sweaters, which have chunkier yarn, creating a more textured knit with characteristic unevenness. For lighter knits, we have organic cotton, linen, SeaCell, and recycled cashmere in fine gauges. We work with a lot of simple crewnecks in our knitwear collection, using wooden buttons as trims. Knits come in both form-fitting and oversized silhouettes, sometimes featuring exaggerated V-necks. In addition to our sweaters and cardigans, the knits also include pants, dresses, skirts, and cold-weather accessories. Care for your knits by storing them folded and avoiding hanging so they don’t stretch. Store with cedar wood or lavender to avoid moths.
