Margarita’s Biography

  • Margarita Martínez is a Colombian documentary filmmaker and journalist. A documentary about women who suffer from war and dare to build peace premieres in March “When the Waters Come Together”. In 2018, La Negociación premiered, an intimate look at the peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the FARC and the transition of this guerrilla to civilian life. Among her most outstanding works are the documentaries La Sierra, Robatierra and La Ola Verde.
  • She studied her master’s degree in journalism and international relations at Columbia University in New York. She was Nieman Fellow of Harvard University in 2009 and winner of the 2016 Maria Cabot Award for journalistic excellence delivered by Columbia University. She is currently working on a documentary about the search for justice and the post-war truth and transitional justice as a mechanism.
